UMW:

December

 Radical Generosity event - The event included a blessing and presenting a $5000  Music scholarship to Connor. (emphasis on education) 

 Radical Generosity event The event included a blessing and presenting $2500  to God's Greyts. This organization helps retired greyhound dogs find homes. ( emphasis animal safety)  Also, the professional Dickens Carolers brought joy to our worship service!

 Radical Generosity event - The event included a blessing and presenting $2500 to 

Hope & Help of Central Florida. (emphasis LGBTQ community)

 Radical Generosity event - The event included a blessing and presenting $2500 to House of Hope. House of Hope Serves teens and their families in restoring their relationships. They provide shelter, nourishment, and help for those in need and spiritual guidance.

Broadway United Methodist Church's first Radical Generosity event was held.  The event included a blessing and presenting FIDO BAGS to every Fire Station (17) in the City of Orlando during our worship service.  These bags contain specialized life-saving equipment to let members of the Orlando community know that their pets may be a little more safe in the event of a fire.

Saturday a Blessing of the Animals was held on the lawn of Broadway United Methodist Church.

 

Broadway U.M.W. Mission Study on Poverty was held  in Criswell Hall 

August

Broadway U.M.W. raised $2,204  for the Samaritan Village in Orlando from proceeds from the Silent Auction, Bingo and delicious barbecued pork with rosemary held on the 25th of August 2018. We presented Dione Coleman, Executive Director,  the love offering Sunday 26 August 2018, Ms. Dee Coleman told us of Samaritan Village's recovery home and therapeutic center for adult survivors of human sex trafficking whose mission is to provide a safe place for sexually trafficked women to heal from trauma and recover from addiction through medical and counseling services as well as be trained for independent safe living through education, and employment training. They find support in reclaiming their lives to become catalysts for change in their communities. The congregation then prayed for Ms. Dee Coleman and the ministry at Samaritan Village.

Broadway U.M.W. Excursion to "Lavender & Lace Tea Room", Lake Alfred. Fl.  

Met at church and carpooled to the always fun event.

Broadway U.M.W. General Meeting - The Holy Land Experience.   Presentation from Carolyn and Linda Dixon with Yvonne Lorah describing with visuals that made us all feel we were there!

April  

Broadway U.M.W. raised $554 for the St. Luke Medical and Dental Clinic  

a nonprofit organization that provides medical and dental services

  (fillings & extractions) for uninsured patients. Client's eligibility is for those persons who have no medical insurance, no Medicaid, no Medicare, or Share of cost. Clients must be

  BELOW 200% of the federal poverty level.  A love offering was given in full from donations received from the Cordon Blue Dinner served after worship downstairs in Criswell Hall.

 Eola Heights Neighborhood Holiday Gathering  

Downtown neighbors meet with Broadway UMC for Hors-d'ereves & Desserts, Singing, and Santa with Presents for our neighborhood children!

 

*Additional presents are given to the children at the Christian Service Center.

 Eola Heights Neighborhood Block Party_ National Night Out  

Downtown neighbors & Broadway UMC  celebrate National NightOut in our community garden. We are sponsored by the City of Orlando and local law enforcement. Booths from local churches, restaurants, vendors, etc. are available. Community's volunteer entertainment has included performances by Orlando Opera, The Russian Ballet, and local professional musicians. Prizes donated by local vendors and organizations. Everything is free to the gathering community! Building better relationships through gatherings. In 2018 we won first place in the City of Orlando for our community event!
